About Maison A&S

In selecting winemakers to be a part of our portfolio, we look for producers that offer terroir-driven wines from across a given region, not just from a single appellation. Alexandre Aires and Pierre-Alexandre Soltana of Maison A&S achieved that goal for us. The young duo established Maison A&S in 2018 as a passion project, and have grown it into a remarkable Domaine with no signs of slowing down. With ambitions to manage the entire production process using only the highest quality standards for winemaking, Alexandre and Pierre-Alexandre are putting in the work to consistently produce excellent wines for years to come.

What impresses us the most about Alexandre and Pierre-Alexandre is their continued engagement with other winemaking efforts in the region. Alexandre holds the position of cellar master at Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair in Nuits-Saint-Georges, while Pierre-Alexandre stays as the head of viticulture of Domaine des Comtes Lafon, having worked his way up from a vineyard worker. In their role helming Maison A&S, they are still fresh and new, but have quickly established for themselves a strong brand and a celebrated name. Their past and ongoing experiences in the region have taught them about intentional wine making, and given them a solid foundation in sustainable agriculture and vinification which they bring to their project.

Maison A&S is dedicated to low-intervention winemaking practices. All of their grapes are harvested by hand, using small five-kilogram crates that help to prevent the berries from bursting in the handling process. All the white grapes are pressed directly upon arrival at the winery before aging 12 months in barrel. The red grapes are sorted and destemmed, depending on their ripeness, but never crushed, then fermented for 14-15 days in a tank before barreling down for 12 months. They use native yeast and no additives, and never use SO2 during vinification.

As the project continues to grow, the duo are finding new ways to expand. They recently acquired plots of Bourgogne Pinot Noir and plan to plant Chardonnay in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune region in the spring of 2025. We are excited about how they continue to search for additional plots across various appellations in the Côte de Beaune. With passion and enthusiasm for their craft, Maison A&S finds themselves at the beginning of what will inevitably be a long and successful career in Burgundy.
